Accrington artist connects with community
1:57pm Friday 20th April 2012 in Art news
A RENOWNED artist and sculptor has helped a local community brush up on its artistic skills thanks to funding from Hyndburn Homes.
Brian Ormerod has started a community arts venture in his home town of Accrington, holding art classes in Moorhouse Avenue Community Centre.
Mr Ormerod said: “The work being accomplished, including Roses and Castles Canal Art, illustrates the pride and passion in this community.
"It is refreshing to see how each person has developed their own style with some guidance.”
Jill Brown, independent living team manager at Hyndburn Homes said “This is a great project which helps unite the local community.
"It is fantastic that Brian volunteers his time to pass on his skills to others.”
Frank Sanderson, a visitor to the community centre, said: “I was very impressed with the art course.”
Brian’s classes are on Tuesday between 2 and 4pm.
