St Mary’s College hosted its annual Prize Night at King George’s Hall last night.

Among the guests were; the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Deputy Chair of Governors Andre Rebello, head teachers of our partner schools along with their head boys and head girls and prize winners and family.

Our guest speaker for the evening was former Principal of the College (2005-2013) Mr Kevin McMahon.

Occasions such as this are to celebrate the achievements and efforts of learners at all levels, and this year again there were many successes to mark.
Results in A levels placed St Mary's College in the top 15 per cent of providers across the country, a tribute to the hard work of students and the dedication of staff. 61 subjects achieved a 100% pass rate with an incredible 72% high grades A*, A and B.

Students, who enrol on their courses at St Mary’s, stay on their courses, achieve well and progress to higher education and employment. Congratulations to them all especially our prize winners.

Frank Dixon, Principal, in his speech said;

“Our small community atmosphere sets the scene for highly successful, supportive departments and after taking those anxious first steps to enrol and meet other students, our learners relax and excel.

I hope that all our prize-winners tonight, whatever your level of study, who have studied ‘Sub Mariae Nomine’ are now better placed to use your talents, gifts and skills to take up your own challenge in continuing to achieve, prospering in whatever field your studies have brought you to, and contributing to the regeneration of a better, more ethically sound society.

May I congratulate you once again, and wish you all a happy, holy and peaceful Christmas, and further success in 2015 and beyond.”
