Dance at St Mary’s College has outstanding results, extensive performance opportunity and is housed in stunning facilities.
The Dance Academy always attracts dancers with excellent technical ability and this year is no exception. The successful dancers are offered an elite level of training and extensive performance opportunity as the dancers work with professional practitioners.
This year the Dance Academy has successfully auditioned 16 dancers who will be working with a choreographer from Ludus, Anthony Briggs and a trained dancer from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Samantha Allen. The company will choreograph two pieces to perform at St Mary’s College Youth Dance Festival, U Dance at The Lowry and if selected like previous years, The Royal Festival Hall, London.
Elissa Best, Head of Dance at St Mary’s College says,
“We are incredibly fortunate to have such talented dancers from across Pennine Lancashire here at St Mary’s College. It is an inspiration to the Academy members to work with both male and female choreographers at a professional level. For me, it re-enforces the fact that dance is very much alive today.”
