Blackburn Rovers take back club shop
BLACKBURN Rovers have taken over responsibility for the retail operation at Ewood Park.
Sports World International has held the retailing franchise for the past four years.
Tom Finn, Rovers' managing director, said: "I am sure this news will be welcomed by our supporters as it will provide us with the opportunity to reintroduce a range of club-branded products within our retail operation.
"We have been fully aware of frustrations among our fans, but we are now looking forward with renewed confidence."
Mr Finn stressed that it would take some time for the club to re-brand and re-stock the shop and asked for supporters' patience during this process.
He added: "We are going to need our fans to bear with us and it is likely that the shop will close for refitting at some stage during the close season."
Details of the official re-launch - expected to tie in with the arrival of the new club kit - will be announced soon.

isn't sports world owned by mike ashley chairman of the barcodes. Thank god we,ve reclaimed it this will prevent ashley from lining his fat wallet off the back of Rovers. We can now forge forward and have some quality goods and line our own club pocket.

Mixed feelings for me realy, I remember when the clubshop used to have loads of club branded stuff (ties mini-kits etc) and i'll be glad to see all that bk, I just hop people buy it and it doesnt turn out 2 b a waste of money for them. I always feel a bit sad for Rovers when i go to the clubshop this sort of stage of the season and there virtually throwing stuff out.
On a positive note i do agree with all the above comments, it will be nice to get some decent rovers merchandise.

The shirts where kept in a huge storage area known as the "archives" in the Jack Walker stand.
And as far as football shirts sales go the stats where taken from 442 magazine at christmas so i guess a sports publication was wrong aswell.
Mike Ashley may well be selling Sports World but i guess his shares in NIKE have nothing to do with that.
If you cup your hands and say please he may throw the pathetic 25 million that Rovers need to buy the tiny club.

Savio, i worked at Ewood for 5 years before i moved back here. The shirts where kept in a huge storage area known as the "archives" in the Jack Walker stand. And as far as football shirts sales go the stats where taken from 442 magazine at christmas so i guess a sports publication was wrong aswell. Mike Ashley may well be selling Sports World but i guess his shares in NIKE have nothing to do with that. I find it laughable that you're slating Rovers for being pathetic. Yes, we are smaller in comparison to the toon. But at least we are able to go more than two weeks without the club's management going into turmoil.

Great news the club are taking over the club shop again.They should never have franchised it out to sports world in the first place,how much money must they have lost in merchandise sales over the last four years?.I know we aren't one of the most fashionable clubs in England but surely we must have a big enough fan base worldwide by now, to be able to sustain one small club shop, if it is marketed properly.The club need to plug the fact,like Celtic do,that all profits made are put straight back into team strengthening.We need to become the peoples club of Lancashire,its good that season ticket sales are already up on last season.

Geordies seem to miss the obvious difference between the two clubs.
Newcastle,population 259.000.
Blackburn,population 137.000.
Percentage wise,blackburn are probably the better supported club,and most certainly are the better run club.
