Evofit of sex pest revealed

| EVOFIT: Artist's impression of the man |
THIS is the face of a sex pest who terrified a woman after striking on a canal towpath in Burnley.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, exposed himself and committed a sex act in front of a 36 year-old woman who was walking along the towpath near the bus station in Croft Street.
He then made verbal threats before running off towards a nearby town centre car park where he got into a small dark blue van.
Police said that the victim managed to provide a good description of the 'distinctive-looking man' so they have used a new high-tech system to produce the computerised likeness.
The sex pest was in his 50s, around 5ft 8in tall and had a moustache.
He has prominent teeth and was wearing a short cream zipped-up jacket and dark tan trousers and a flat cap.
Police said they were keen to catch the man as they believe he could strike again.
Detective Inspector Sion Hall said: "This was a worrying offence and the woman was obviously quite upset by what happened.
"And although we do not think he is connected to any other offences like this we do believe he could strike again.
"The man is very distinctive looking and the incident happened in daylight so we are hopeful that there will have been people walking around the area at the time who will have seen him."
Evofit is a new system Lancashire Constabulary is trialling for the rest of the country.
Last month, following one of the first likenesses produced, a 13-year-old burglar from Bacup was caught after a resident recognised him.
Evofit works by getting witnesses to pick out an offender's whole face instead of describing individual features.
A number of potential faces containing random eyes, noses and mouths are produced and the witness is asked to select those most like the criminal.
Computer software mixes the selected faces to produce another set for selection.
According to police, this manipulation increases the chances of the public recognising the suspect by 20 per cent.
DI Hall said: "The woman got a good look at him and we were able to produce the Evofit of what she believes he looks like.
"We have also tracked down the van we believe he made off in after looking at CCTV footage of the area, and are confident that with the image and the description we will be able to catch the man involved."
Police urged anyone who recognises the man, or who was in Croft Street at the town of the incident at 4pm on Sunday March 2 to come forward.
Call Burnley CID on 01282 472240 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Come on ! - We have to make light in the face of adversity - It's what keeps us sane and makes us british. I'm sure no harm was intended in the comments above.! (I think it looks like Peter Cooke myself!)
