Daniel is ‘face’ of top festival

EAST Lancashire singer/songwriter Daniel Orlick has taken another step up the ladder of success after being chosen to become the face of a prestigious Manchester music festival.

The 27-year-old, of Glenfield Road, Nelson, will represent the Hide and Seek Festival, which takes place over the last weekend in May and will showcase 150 of the north's most popular bands at over 20 venues.

The three-day event will also include a seminar for performers and representatives, bringing together panels of experts to deliver presentations on how to empower artists in building sustainable careers.

Two images of Daniel will be used to convey the theme of the Hide and Seek Festival, and they will be used on flyers, event programmes, and posters.

"This is another great thing that has happened recently," said Daniel, who is married with a two-year-old son.

"For me it is all about getting positive music to new audiences and the use of my image in this way will aid me in achieving this."

Daniel originally hails from Chicago. He came to East Lancashire three years ago after meeting his wife, Lancashire girl Cali, while busking.

The pair married after nine days and Daniel came to Nelson.

Since the release of his single Six Shooter in October 2007, Daniel's career has gone from strength to strength and he has gained a considerable amount of interest from media and event promoters.

In December he played his first live gig with his band The Diplomats and in January they were filmed as the headline act on a new music programme for Sky TV.

Weeks later they played their first sell-out show in Manchester, earning them a date earlier this month at the renowned Manchester Academy, with booking agents VMan Events earmarking the band for some major label support within the next six months.

Joanne St Clair, Daniel's manager, said: "As an artist he works extremely hard and what we are starting to see now is the culmination of years of dedication to his music. As interest in him grows, so do the opportunities which come our way."

The Hide and Seek Festival is expected to draw thousands of people from around the UK into venues throughout Manchester. Daniel Orlick and The Diplomats will perform on the Saturday night and Daniel will perform again acoustically on the Sunday evening. Record labels, management companies, publishing companies and festival organisers will be networking and watching bands during the three-day event and it is expected that some bands will walk away with record deals and management contracts, along with free recording sessions in reputed studios.

"The Hide and Seek Festival has provided us with a great opportunity," added Joanne.

"We will be working with a first class promoter as well as other people who are passionate about all aspects of the music industry.

"It is an exciting time for us and our music and it is a great reward for all of our efforts."
