Sex attacker jailed for five years
A 33-year-old man who sexually assaulted a teenage girl has been jailed for five years.
And a judge told James Leigh that the damage done to the girl was "immense and incalculable."
Leigh of Clitheroe Road, Barrow, near Whalley, appeared for sentence at Preston Crown Court after admitting six charges: one of
assault by penetration and five of sexual assault.
Miss Emma Kehoe, prosecuting, said Leigh assaulted the girl and kissed and touched her inappropriately.
He had also shown the girl pornographic magazines and committed a sex act in front of her.
Mark Stephenson, defending, said: "He knows his conduct was reprehensible and he accepts full responsibility.
"He is struggling to come to terms with what he has done.
"This is a man who is genuinely remorseful for his acts.
"He feels he has let everyone down. This is a man who wants help."
Mr Stephenson said Leigh had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity. He was of positive good character and an educated man, the solicitor added.
Judge Christopher Cornwall told Leigh "You spoilt the innocence of a child for one purpose: your own sexual gratification."
Leigh will be on the sex offenders register for life.
An order was also made preventing Leigh from having contact under 16's and he was also disqualified from working with children .
