Woman, 88, terrified by arson attack
AN 88-year-old woman was left terrified after a suspected arson attack on her home.
Firefighters were called to the Padiham Road area of Burnley just before midnight, after a wooden shed in her back yard was set alight.
The fire spread to piping fixed to her house, and filled rooms with smoke.
Watch Manager Peter Ashworth said: "The lady was very frightened.
"Unfortunately, the people who do these things don't know the consequences of their actions.
"A lot of smoke had got into the property and she was very shaken up."

Sorry but I disagree with Dave and Bob, Fred's comments are not total garbage, have you been reading the LET recently? - murder and violent disorder; arson; 16yr old with machete; elderly people mugged and afraid to go out; flasher; to name but a few headlines. Don't know about the accuracy of the statistics he quoted but Burnley does have more than it's fair share of serious incidents so why gang up on Fred for speaking the truth. What he quoted about the tv programme was a fact, he didn't make it up so how can it be garbage. Perhaps you are going around Burnley wearing rose coloured spectacles, time you changed your glasses. Right said Fred!
