Your guide to Burnley Wood
BURNLEY Wood is an area of housing predominantly made up of terraced properties.
The majority of the properties were built before 1919, many of which were found to be in a poor state.
This prompted Burnley council to launch a masterplan to regenerate the area.
A number of delapidated properties have been demolished and there is a long-term project to redevelop housing and community facilities in the area.
Within Burnley Wood itself there are two main clusters of shops, along Oxford Road and along Parliament Street.
Burnley Wood retains a distinctive physical form with a number of character areas.
These range from the fine grain of development blocks within "The Grid" area to the "Missing Middle" within the centre of the neighbourhood.
Burnley Wood also has a number of key landmarks in the form of churches, larger mill buildings and important parkland areas.
