Rector retires after 22 years in parish

11:24am Wednesday 15th November 2000

A RECTOR has retired after serving his parish for more than 22 years.

Reverend John Challice and his wife, Janet, stepped down from the parish of St Mary Magdalene, Longfield, at the end of October.

A party to celebrate the couples work and dedication over the years was held in Langafel School, Longfield, where they received gifts from the villagers.

Parochial church council chairman Wendy Smith presented the Rev and Mrs Challice with £3,000 and garden furniture while Longfields Roman Catholic community, represented by Father Hugh Bridge, gave them a microwave.
