PETTY'S estate agent has been awarded accreditation status with Burnley Council's Good Landlord and Agent Scheme (GLAS).

The scheme helps landlords and agents provide better living conditions for tenants and residents in Burnley.

Simon Westwell residential director at Petty's said: "We're delighted to gain this accreditation as it shows our commitment to ensuring that the properties we Let and manage at Petty's are always of the highest standard.

"People need affordable housing but they also need and deserve to know that they are living in good quality housing too."

The scheme is seen as being important for promoting and implementing proactive policies within the private rented sector.

The scheme serves to benefit landlord, agent and tenant by improving the image and standards of private rented accommodation.

Cllr John Harbour, the council's executive member for housing and leisure, said: "Burnley Council works with private landlords to support them and encourage them to raise their standards. Petty deserves credit for being accredited under our new code of practice."
