A MANAGER of a Blackburn-based recruitment company has warned businesses cannot put off bringing in staff despite the Brexit countdown.

Mark Wiggan, managing director of M65 recruitment, said firms have held off making big decisions on recruiting, however with Brexit only a year away, plans and contingencies need to be made.

He said: "We need to ensure the vital role recruiters have facilitating employers’ access to appropriate staff for temporary work as well as permanent placements.

"Employers are already finding it hard to secure the workers they need and we haven’t left the EU yet.

"What’s why the government needs to deliver a post-Brexit system which doesn’t post undue costs on employers that could damage productivity and hinder economic growth."
