BOSSES behind East Lancashire's most anticipated new hotel and bistro have given Lancashire Telegraph readers a sneak peek ahead of their official opening.

Clitheroe's 1823 Spinning Block Hotel and the new 'Bistro, Bar And Grill at Holmes Mill' is set to open tomorrow (Thursday).

The work is the latest phase of the £10million redevelopment of the former derelict textile mill, Holmes Mill.

As part of the first phase of opening, owners James' Places will only open the hotel and bistro from Thursday to Sunday each week.

The hotel will have 16 rooms available to book during the initial opening but will feature 38 bedrooms when complete, which is expected to be at Easter next year.

Matt Barnett, general manager at the hotel and bistro, said: "We're really pleased with it, it's looking absolutely gorgeous.

"All in all we are very, very excited.

"We are thinking that by next Easter it will be open for everyone.

"It will be really good for the area."

The bistro features a large bar with a variety of ales, spirits and cocktails on offer for guests to try.

Chandeliers provide lighting in the room, while there are a variety of seating option for guests.

The hotel will feature 15 classic double rooms and one family room for four people but will also feature a penthouse and 'superior double' rooms when complete.

Staff involved with the project said there is a 'real demand' for quality accommodation in the area.

Heidi Kettle, marketing manager at Holmes Mill, said: "We're absolutely excited this.

"We've had some really encouraging signs that we're going to get a positive response.

"There's not a lot of rooms around the centre of Clitheroe, but we've got a strong wedding business.

"The demand is there for this, particularly at weekends."

Around 75 people have already booked to come along to the bistro on Saturday night, while the hotel rooms have also been snapped up by guests.

The bistro will be holding cocktail evenings on Fridays between 5pm and 7.30pm, with waiters to walk round with canapes for guests.

A pianist also will be performing on Friday and Saturday nights at the bistro.

The bistro, bar and grill will be open from 5pm on Thursdays and from noon every other day during the initial opening, with lunch and evening menus on offer for guests.
