A SWEET shop will create 15 new jobs after receiving backing from major online marketplace Amazon.

Celebrate Gifts in Accrington is moving to a new 8,000 sq ft home in Accrington town centre.

Owner Paul Bloor said the expansion comes as it looks to keep up with increasing customer demand after being listed as a seller on Amazon.

The store specialises in creating chocolate bouquets and bosses hope to increase production from 150 items a day to more than 300.

Managing director Paul Bloor, 36, said: “It’s been interesting getting to work with Amazon.

“We’ve got a nice little niche with chocolate bouquets, it’s definitely a growing market.

“We had a boom at Christmas time and it’s just kept on going since then, it’s been non-stop.

“It’s primarily down to our online service we’ve had so much success, but Accrington is still a great location for business.

“In terms of viability it will be great, we should treble our turnover.”

The business will be moving from a smaller 1,000 sq ft unit in Canon Corner in Church Street to a larger unit at the same site, which used to be home to Barnes Furniture Store.

Currently seven staff work at the shop.

The firm's expansion comes following the closure of several shops closed in Accrington town centre including as Store Twenty One, Papa John’s and Burger King at the StrEAT Food Court.

Owners said the success comes down to its online service, although Accrington remains an ideal site for business.

Mr Bloor said: “The rents and rates in the town are fantastic and it’s great value for money.

“We do still get a bit of footfall through the door and it’s good to see you can get still get success in the town centre.

“We’re still a young business, we’ve enjoyed it so far and we’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”

The new site will include a 1,000 sq ft showroom and 7,000 sq ft production area.

The business was launched in Blackburn Market in 2015 by Mr Bloor and his mother-in-law, before moving to its current home in August 2016.

The move will take place at the end of this month before the grand opening in August.
