NELSON and Colne College has been named the sixth highest performing college in the country by the Government.

The Government’s National Success Data places the college in the top three per cent and sixth out of 230 Further Education colleges across the country.
College bosses said that the achievement was thanks to hard work from students, staff and parents.

Amanda Melton, principal at Nelson and Colne College, said: “I am immensely proud of the success of our students. Not only is this a result of their hard work and dedication, but it also reflects on the care and guidance of their parents, families and guardians.

“Our students benefit from the wealth of experience offered by our highly skilled and enthusiastic staff, who are committed to their successful futures.

“The people of East Lancashire can be justly proud of the success of its young people, just as we are proud to continue to serve the local community.

“They can also have confidence in knowing that they have a truly outstanding college, which has a fantastic reputation, held over many years, on their doorstep.”

The National Success Data measures the levels of success, retention and achievement in further education colleges in England. They are based on three years’ worth of academic data.

Nelson and Colne College has a long-standing tradition of producing professionals, from company directors, technicians and artists, to doctors, entrepreneurs and professional engineers.
