Lancashire Telegraph Business Awards: Retailer of the Year

A FIRM with an annual turnover approaching £250million was named Retailer of the Year.

And Euro Garages’ modest and humble managing director Mohsin Issa, who accepted the award, put the success down to his workers.

The Darwen-based firm, which now employs 635 staff and has a £242million turnover, has gone from strength to strength since it was formed by brothers Mohsin and Zuber.

In 2001 Euro Garages, Blackburn Road, owned a single petrol forecourt but now the Issa brothers and the team of people around them run 80 petrol stations nationwide with 40 of them in Lancashire.

And the success doesn’t stop there, Mohsin and Zuber have massive plans in the pipeline to expand the business further.

Their business brains and retail expertise has led them to secure contracts with some of the country’s most well-known retailers.

Not only does Euro Garages have partnerships with top fuel giants like BP, their pioneering approach has secured work with companies such as Greggs, Subway and Spar.

The firm is currently working with a leading coffee chain to build the first Starbucks in East Lancashire.

Mohsin said: “It is a fantastic achievement it is a team effort at the end of the day.

“This is a testament to the team around me.

“We really want to push the business forward. We must carry on the way we are and not rest on our laurels.”

Due to the business’s growth, Euro Garages is planning to move its headquarters in Darwen to Shadsworth Business Park if planning permission is granted.
