TODAY we launch the 2008 Lancashire Telegraph Business Awards – now recognised as the premier event in the East Lancashire entrepreneurial calendar.
With a total of 11 categories available to enter, the awards allow the very best businesses in the region to go head-to-head in a bid to achieve ultimate glory.
The awards climax at a glittering ceremony to be held at Ewood Park, Blackburn, on November 14.
The awards showcase the contribution made to East Lancashire’s economy by its thriving companies and leading businessmen and women.
A total of 11 categories give a wide range of opportunity to businesses and those who run them to revel in the limelight of success, and individual employees – the heartbeat of any business – have their chance to enter the spotlight as Employee of the Year.
And this year’s awards will see the return of a prize for export, the accolade which celebrates the achievements of companies far beyond the borders of East Lancashire.
Lancashire Telegraph editor Kevin Young said: “The event is the pinnacle of the awards calendar and allows us to celebrate the achievements of businesses that make up East Lancashire’s vibrant commercial and industrial scene.
“The quality of entries never ceases to amaze the judges and is testament to the high standards constantly achieved by business in the region.
“This is a chance for businesses across East Lancashire to be recognised for their achievements at the region’s premier business event.”
Entrants now have until September 19 to return their completed entry forms and give themselves as good a chance as possible of achieving award success.
We are urging East Lancashire’s business community to get behind the awards and make it best event yet.
Steven Broomhead, chief executive of the NWDA said: “East Lancashire is home to a broad and diverse range of vibrant and dynamic businesses which make an important and valued contribution to the regional economy.
“The Lancashire Telegraph Business Awards importantly recognise this contribution and promote the work of businesses and individuals that have performed strongly in the last year and demonstrated real enterprising spirit.
“It is vital that we recognise and reward companies and individuals that have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence and inspire all our businesses to strive for continuous improvement.”
