Unemployment falls in East Lancashire

UNEMPLOYMENT has fallen in East Lancashire in the past month, bucking the national trend, new figures released this morning revealed.
There are now 355 fewer people claiming job seeker’s allowance in the area. In total 13,213 are claiming the benefit.
In Blackburn with Darwen there are 4,172 people unemployed, down by eight on the previous month.
In Burnley the figure is 2,853 in May, down from 2,924 the previous month.
The biggest fall was in Hyndburn where 165 fewer people claimed unemployment benefit in May, down from 2,071.
There were also falls in Pendle, down by 56 to 2,136, Rossendale, down by 22 to 485, and Ribble Valley, down 22 to 485.
