A CAR park at a Blackburn-based forecourt operator could double in size if plans are given the green light by the borough council.

Euro Garages, based at Euro House, in Haslingden Road, want to expand the car park from 69 to 124 spaces, with 51 extra car spaces, and four more disability spaces, on the south east and south west boundaries of the site.

When the development was implemented in 2009, it was found that six spaces at the side of the on-site Starbucks drive-thru could not be provided because of the width of the access way adjacent to it.

Four spaces at the back of the petrol filling station shop had to be omitted because they obstructed the access way.

Euro Garages also removed 19 spaces in front of their new national headquarters for aesthetic reasons, and to provide a drop-off point for clients.

As the petrol forecourt was trading higher than expected, the number of parking spaces was found to be insufficient.

A decision will be made by Blackburn with Darwen Council in coming weeks.
