A DARWEN hotel has been shortlisted for two prestigious business awards.
The Whitehall Hotel, in Park Road, is up for the Innovation and Entrepreneur categories of the Be Inspired Business Awards (BIBA), run in association with the North West Development Agency and The Lancashire Enterprise Partnership.
Neil and Tracy Bullows, owners of the Whitehall & MJs restaurant, were interviewed separately by a panel of ten judges for two hours.
Neil said: “I applied for the innovation award and, without me knowing, my wife nominated me for the entrepreneur award, which was quite a surprise. I think the judges were impressed with the way we have converted the swimming pool to a restaurant which is very modern and in complete contrast to the Whitehall.
“We have also been developing a new internet-based marketing system and database, which we’re hoping to export to other businesses.”
Tracy said: “Our success is down to a very talented hospitality team.”
More than 90 finalists in 15 categories will gather at a ceremony on March 12, at the Globe Theatre, Blackpool.
