FESTIVE cheer is to be brought to those in need thanks to employees of an East Lancashire firm who have cleared there throats for a Christmas song.

Staff and customers at XLCR in Colne have recorded a version of ‘All I Want For Christmas is You’ to get in the festive spirit.

The video will be released at the start of next month and every time it is liked or shared the business will donate a £1 to charity.

The money raised will be split between four local charities: Colne in Bloom, Sibes and Sled Dogs Husky Welfare, Wil’s Wishes and BK’s Heroes.

Chief executive Lee Duerden said the company want to help ‘shine a light’ on charities and have some festive fun.

The 42-year-old said: “It’s just a bit of Christmas fun, it helps bring us all together.

“Especially around Christmas time you see people being more giving.

“We do this just to raise attention to some charities who do so much good work in our area.

“They don’t get enough attention for what they do.

“It’s just a laugh and good fun for us all to take part in.

“As a business which plays a big part in the local community, we think we have a responsibility to help out those in need."

This is the third year the business has taken part in a charity Christmas fundraising video.

Two years ago they raised around £6,000 with their take on ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’.

Last year they raised around £15,000 with their ‘Driving Homes For Christmas’ cover.

The business also does various fundraising activities throughout the year with several members taking part in the Manchester 10k this year.

All of the 32 team members who were available took part in the recording of this years song, and several customers were also invited to join in.

The contract car hiring business is based in Albert Road.

Mr Duerden said: “We know we’re not X Factor contestants, but it’s all for a good cause.

“We do get a few comments like people saying you’re a good looking bunch but you can’t sing.
