THE county’s finest wedding businesses have been honoured at an annual regional awards ceremony.

The Great Northern Wedding Awards took place at Mitton Hall, Clitheroe with companies who provided great service for brides and grooms-to-be celebrated.

The ceremony was organised by Little White Books, the county's leading organisers of weddings fairs and events.

Companies, venues and individuals from East Lancashire performed exceptionally well at the awards, with many going home with the top prizes.

A total of 22 awards were handed out including eight new business led awards.

Finch Bakery in Great Harwood picked up two awards for best cake company and the ‘social media superstars’ award for its public engagement on Instagram.

The best bridalwear retailer was given to Amelia’s Bridal Boutique, Clitheroe, while the best videographer prize went to Abbey Videos, in Whalley.

Alex Birtwell from Clayton-le-Moors claimed the prize for the best entertainment company for his acoustic singing, wedding entertainment and disco business.

Blackburn’s Bridal Hair stylist Sam Gately, picked up the prize for best hair stylist, Brides Little Helper in Clitheroe won best stationer competition, while Kelly Woods Photography from Mellor Brow clinched the award for best female photographer.

The host of the ceremony Mitton Hall also picked up the prize for best wedding venue with accommodation.

After consulting brides and groom the award, the best retail team prize went to The Bridal Lounge of Accrington, with Kimberley Anne Bridal Boutique in Clitheroe was named as the best new business.

Finally the best events team prize went to The Dreamakers at James’ Places, who run the weddings at Eaves Hall and Mitton Hall.

A spokesman for the Great Northing Wedding Awards said: “We had several businesses who were hoping to win big with some new finalists snapping at their heels.

“Our brides and grooms have once again nominated and voted in record numbers which means the voting has been incredibly competitive across the board.”

No ceremony will take place next year so all of the awards handed out were for 2017/18.
