THE Mall Blackburn has once again been shortlisted for a prestigious Hive Business Award.

The Mall has invested more than £70million in its facilities since 2010, including extensions, redevelopment of areas such as Ainsworth Mall, a new entrance and car park improvements.

Thousands of local people are employed within The Mall, serving tens of thousands of shoppers each week.

Last year the shopping centre went from strength to strength, welcoming a host of new retailers as well as increasing its leisure offering.

The first retailer to arrive was Home and Fragrance, followed by Rhode Island Coffee, The Entertainer, PureGym, Minoti, Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shop, a second Costa Coffee, Muffin Break, Burger King, El Taco Loco and the highly anticipated Krispy Kreme.

The Mall unveiled its new Ask Me Point following a £30,000 investment to allow for the increase in demand of the popular new services, which include Collect Plus and Kiddie Cabs.

Loraine Jones, general manager, said she and the team were 'thrilled' with the Hive Corporate Commitment to Blackburn and Darwen Award nomination.

She said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for this year’s awards and to be recognised amongst the town’s finest.

“It really is fantastic to work in Blackburn and I also proud to call the town home.

“As Blackburn continues to grow and improve it cements my belief that it really is the place to be."
