Burnley aerospace apprentice wins talent award

AN apprentice has been recognised as ‘one to watch’ at the North West Aerospace Alliance New Talent Awards.

Burnley engineer Michael Williams, 21, who has been a Safran Aircelle employee for five years, completed a Craft Apprenticeship Scheme and worked on Safran Aircelle’s Trent 700 programme, making components of the engines that power the Airbus A330 aircraft.

The prestigious award ceremony, sponsored by the Manufacturing Institute, was held at Manchester’s Imperial War Museum, and saw prizes handed out to the region’s brightest and best, and the training providers which support their work.

Skilled fitter Michael won his award for demonstrating business acumen and for his understanding of aerospace technology.

Another Safran Aircelle apprentice, Gareth Hare was highly commended at the ceremony.
