    Campaign to be welcomed

ALCOHOL abuse is a huge problem in East Lancashire.

Every weekend hundreds of young people go out on the town and drink to excess without a thought for the consequences.

This has been a problem for a number of years and there have been countless campaigns to try to tackle it.

The latest to give it a go is East Lancashire Primary Care Trust as part of a wider aim to save a million years of life by tackling health inequalities in East Lancashire.

They are using a series of hard-hitting posters to drive home the effects of too much booze.

And each of the posters feature images which will be most pertinent to young people, showing how drinking to excess can affect your looks, result in pregnancy or in being the victim of a serious assault.

Hopefully these images will hit the mark with young people in East Lancashire so that they consider the consequences when they go for a night.

The PCT should be applauded for its campaign.

If it is successful, it will be a real achievement.

If it is successful I would call it a Real Miracle!

Young People often do not regard the consequences of things.

Understanding the consequences of things comes with the experience of things.

If this is going to be a campaign determined by it's success or it's failure we are missing the point of what it means to be a young person.

A Campaign by shops and Major Supermarkets Chains to reduce by One Million, The number of Hours Alcohol is sold. would have much more credibility.

Every Responsible Adult could reduce the amount of hours they are influenced by alcohol.

Let's see some Integrity by those involved in these Campaigns.

    Youngsters might immitate that.
