TAKING life is THE most serious offence and sadly East Lancashire does seem to get more than its fair share of gruesome murders.

But the killing of Sophie Lancaster reached a new low even for the lowest of crimes.

The horrific manner in which she and her boyfriend were set upon marked these out as attacks of exceptional savagery and callousness.

And they are deeply, deeply disturbing to all of us.

It isn't just the totally motiveless nature of the appalling violence but the fact that the thugs responsible were as young as 15 and acted with the mentality of a pack of animals.

But most frightening and worrying of all have been the comments of senior police officers.

Men, who are used to dealing within a year with more abhorrent people than others would expect to come across in a lifetime, have spoken out with obvious anger at the unfeeling reaction of the parents of these young killers.

They have talked of them laughing and joking "without a care in the world" in the immediate aftermath of events which sickened all right-thinking people in East Lancashire.

Something serious has to be done to force parents to face up to their responsibilities - to try to ensure no one else's sons behave like this ever again.

I agree the comments of the police have sickened People as much as the tragic events of the case.

I can't help observing that in this society we have all contributed to there is a tendency to seek out someone to blame.

We live in a climate of blame. It might make us feel a bit better but it will change nothing.

The current fashion is to blame parents for just about every ill in our society.

It has become the routine mind-set of highly paid professionals and the average person.

The problem is that these proffessionals are as much to blame for the ills of the society as anyone else is.

They get paid to sort things out. They have powers to sort things out. They get our trust and our respect to sort things out.

What do they do?

They talk, they have meetings, they make appointments, they follow proceedures from above and utterly surrender their own initiative. They claim their expenses and get their pension.

Picking on People who are'different' is not a new thing. Picking on People who are weak and vulnerable is not a new thing. Picking on People who 'think' differently is not a new thing.

Violence and Persecution is normal in this world.

Who wants to get off their backside and lift a finger to change the way we think about this world.?

When man is ready to change the way he feels.

This world will change.

Blame on if you want nothing to change. Keep pandering to the blame culture and nothing will ever change.

What People need to do is TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY.
