We should take steps to beat high fuel prices

With the price of diesel as high as it is, maybe it is time to consider walking to work.

I have contemplated this before when the price of a litre of car fuel hit the pound mark.

But then one thing led to another and it rained and I decided to wait until the next big hike.

Then I realised that walking to work had nothing to do with fuel prices at all. If you want to stop using the car you just do it - and stop making excuses otherwise.

Regardless of my woes, how hard can it be to keep fuel prices down? We did after all help to invade an oil-rich region in the Middle East. You would think, then, that by doing so prices would come down?

I know we didn't go there for the oil and we went to free the people of that great nation from a terrible leader...but then why didn't we invade the United States?

On another point, as I am not allowed to say anything about the election, please can I make one suggestion: WE THE PEOPLE OF LANCASHIRE ARE NOT STUPID!' I have nothing against politicians as such, but can I suggest that you do not try to be all nicey nicey with us just for one week.

We can be friends all year round as long you have the willingness to help us in our hours of need.

Just this week I got a letter though my door with a little note saying that someone had finally realised there are some issues in my neighbourhood that need sorting out.

And because these issues needed sorting in double quick time, how about residents meet-up with any concerns to air their grievances in an open and frank environment.

There was no mention of any food being served but you never know, we might pop a couple of samosas your way if you're really hungry.

All of this just a couple of days before an election. All I ask is this, people of the political world: don't treat us like complete idiots, and have some common sense.

Now, there is something I would definitely vote for.
