BROWSING the crisp aisle of my local newsagent I was horrified to discover that Space Raiders are no longer 10p.
I almost had to ask the man behind the counter for a chair to sit down.
Space Raiders have been 10p for ever. Literally. Well, it feels like it, at least.

The only product in the history of the world to resist inflation, the salvation of schoolkids everywhere who had a solitary 10p for the tuck shop near the bus stop on the way home from school.
It turns out many of us feel passionate about this issue - there's even a Facebook group called "A line has been crossed when Space Raiders are no longer 10p" with almost 52,000 members.
It's the youth of today I feel sorry for.
They may carry knives, happy-slap each other senseless and start smoking at eight years old, but who can blame them without that so-strong-they-make-you-wince pickled onion flavour maize snack?

Caroline you are quite right to point this out. In the kidieconomy this is a devastating blow to what is probably the only decent meal they get in a day.
By the time they've bought their cider and had their lunchtime spliff they have barely enough left over to top up their mobile.
This is journalism at it's finest and penetrates to the core of our consummer driven society. Space raiders Executives need to take another look at this kind of exploitation of the young. It could be a turning point in the development of mankind and it will be you who is remembered Caroline for bringing this matter to the attention of the Whole Universe.
I think this could be the sign the People of Earth have been waiting for. There are some spaces that need to be raided. Those under-winced folk will never Understand.
What u doin' friday ?

It could be a punishment for anyone who breaks the law. The Magistrates could Sentence them to eat their way through a lorry load and then we can all see just how tough they really are.
There is no doubt that they do take some chewing, they are quite tough and spongy without the availability of some strong alcohol to help desolve them.
Repeat offenders would probably cease to exist.
Large quantities of Space Raiders would probably be the most effective way of stopping any feral teenager getting violent again. As far as I know, Nobody has ever been the victim of a Maize Fuelled Violent Frenzy.
It could be the Teenage deterrant the Adults have all been waiting for.
It could impact on the PROFITS of those who are in favour of the availability of cheap booze [bold]2ltrs £1.99[/bold] but then Nobody has ever been fined or Asbo'd or driven to kill on account of a packet of Space Raiders.

Mike,
I am not interested in victimising Caroline for her penetrating and investigative insight into the much ignored price hike of Space Raiders.
I think some of the comments on here are totaly unfounded and can only be the underhand work of those poisoned zombie sucking Quaverites who are totaly devoid of what it means to be thoroughly winced to perfection.
Grisly Zombies who have spent the whole of their miserable existence without ever having known what it means to have a decent snack packet to crunch on.

Can the telegraph not understand what a good honest debate is? Or is Caroline Dutton not allowed to be questioned as to her journalism. Myself and Nostradamos did not agree with each other, but our comments were not rude or abusive.

Your right Jill,it does seem that when i agreed that you did not have anything personall against Caroline and that you were genuinly annoyed at her apparent lack of understanding of the link between the tragedy of Bacup and her blog theme,it was then that all the rellevent replies were removed, bloody disgracefull really.

Maybe the comments linking her blog with a tradgedy were motivated by jelousy and it was thought that she didn't deserve it.
The subject under discussion was with regard to Space Raiders.

James my friend that is a terrible thing to say,why summise that someone is jealous just because they have a comment to make, that disagrees or critises a certain phrase in any statement?.I do believe that Jill was deff and honestly annoyed about the remarks, which imo i thought her annoyance was unfounded but that is my oppinion, anyone else is entittled to there oppinion and believe it or not it could be a different oppinion than everyone elses, this does not mean that a person is jealous, the posts should have been left on for sure.i did not see any harm in any of them.

To call Caroline insensitive and link her comments to the Tragedy in Bacup was it seemed to me a way of making her feel bad about what she had written.
Why would anyone do that ?
