Haffner pays tribute to Roger

The Haffner Orchestra is dedicating its next concert in Lancaster to Roger Cann, who died last month.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Roger became musical director of the Haffner in its 1989-1990 season while he was head of music at St Martin's College, and guided the orchestra for 15 years.

A tribute will be paid to him when the orchestra performs a special piece written by Rachel Malloch, a founder member and the Haffner's principal oboist.

The orchestra will be adding a piece by Roger to its planned programme To the Vanishing Point was commissioned by the orchestra to mark its Silver Jubilee season in 2002.

The programme on offer at the Ashton Hall, Lancaster, at 7.30pm on Saturday, February 18, will be conducted by Natalia Luis-Bassa and features soloist Alexandra Sherman.
