IT was another poor away performance from Burnley on Saturday and at the moment I don't know what plan a, b or c is on the road.

I understand changing the personnel, although I didn't agree with all of the changes, but I didn't understand going back to 4-4-2. I don't know any other team that plays 4-4-2, it's dated, it's not for me.

Xherdan Shaqiri was picking the ball up in dangerous areas but I can hardly remember seeing Dean Marney in the final third. He likes to drive on and go and get involved, a couple of years ago he was always driving forward and making those third man runs. At the moment it's flat.

I feel for Jeff Hendrick as well, he's coming in for a bit of stick but it's difficult in that side at the moment.

I was surprised Steven Defour didn't at least get off the bench. If you're unfit the best way to get fit is playing, I've been there and done it, you get through 60 minutes, then 70, then all of a sudden you're up to match fitness. This has been going on for months now, so I didn't understand why he wasn't getting on.

I think it's a massive call to leave your leading goalscorer on the bench as well. I was baffled by Sam Vokes not starting.

Jon Flanagan came in and everyone has been calling for a change at right-back, I don't know why if I'm honest, Matt Lowton has done okay, but Flanagan was really poor. When he got the ball he just launched it. Never once did he play with his wide man in front of him.

I though the shape and the way they set up was wrong. If you're going to play with wingers then pass to wingers. Not once did George Boyd get the ball passed to him. It was so frustrating.

I don't see the point of playing with wingers at the moment. We're not getting enough in the final third from them so let's do something different, especially away.

West Ham and Tottenham away next week is a worry. For me they really have to shut up shop and bore everybody to bits, go 5-4-1, something like that. Your wide players in a 4-5-1 could be Ashley Barnes on one side and Jeff Hendrick on the other.

It can be a flat back five and it might be boring and we might not get a shot on goal but we might get a point and that's what you need at the moment.

They need to find a way to stop conceding goals on their travels. The amount of shots against us in away games is frightening. You're asking for trouble allowing that many shots.

Get your 5-4-1, park the bus inside the halfway line and say 'right, what you got?'. We've got to get away from defending so deep and allowing so many shots.

Our results away from home at the moment are making home games massive. The Bournemouth game is huge. If we don't win this one it's two away games next week, we could be on a poor run when we have two very winnable games at Turf Moor at Christmas. We need have some confidence going into those games.
