CLARETS stiker Rouwen Hennings has joined Bundesliga 2 side Fortuna Dusseldorf on loan for the rest of the season.

The 28-year-old German returns to his home country after making 27 appearances for Burnley last season and netting goals against Cardiff City and Middlesbrough in the Championship.

Hennings, who signed a three-year deal for the Clarets last summer in a deal worth around £3million, is familiar with the German second tier after netting 18 times in 29 games to finish as top scorer for former club Karlsruhe in the 2014/15 campaign.

Dusseldorf are currently fourth after a 2-2 draw with SV Sandhausen and a 1-0 home victory over Stuttgart.
