BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche saw the club transfer record broken last week when Belgium midfielder Steven Defour signed for the Clarets - so he would have been stunned to learn he had a £27m player available for Saturday’s clash with Liverpool.

Unfortunately for the Turf Moor manager, Defour’s countryman Christian Benteke will not be lining up for the club this season.

The 25-year-old striker actually completed a move from Anfield to Crystal Palace on Saturday morning, bringing to and end his frustrating one-year spell on Merseyside.

But someone got their teams mixed up and changed the former Aston Villa man’s Twitter profile to ‘Burnley FC and Belgium national team’... leaving Clarets fans wondering if they had an extra threat up front to compliment Saturday’s scorers Andre Gray and Sam Vokes.

Benteke, who joined the Eagles on a four-year deal and could be in the squad to face Blackpool in the EFL Cup tonight, finally remedied the mistake by tweeting: “Oops my bad lol yes I signed for cpfc not burnley. Sorry for the little mistake the person that manages my Twitter got a little confused.”

The gaffe drew some humorous responses on social media.
