CHRIS Powell wants Huddersfield Town to follow Blackburn Rovers into the top 10 of the Championship next season.

Huddersfield sit 15th going into today’s clash with ninth-placed Rovers at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Terriers are currently on course to beat their previous two league finishes of 19th and 17th since being promoted to the Championship three years ago.

Rovers finished seventh last season.

“They have had the excitement of their FA Cup run,” said Powell.

“But they have also been very solid in the league for the last couple of seasons.

“Gary got his chance and has really settled the club down.

“For all that has gone on there in the past, there seems to be stability now.

“They have a couple of outstanding goalscorers in Rudy Gestede (20 goals this season) and Jordan Rhodes (19).

“But they certainly aren’t a two-man team. They have some good players “I saw them play the other night, and while Millwall were in the ascendancy, Blackburn stayed in it.

“In the end, their two main scorers scored, which is what you want them to do, and they won 2-0.

“They will give us a good game, but it’s important we maintain our progress.”

Powell is hoping that James Vaughan will be fit to return today after a knee injury.
