Stand-in skipper Matt Kilgallon is almost certainly ruled out of the clash with the Terriers after he came off in Tuesday’s 2-0 home win over Millwall with a thigh injury.

And, with Alex Baptiste, captain Grant Hanley and Shane Duffy still sidelined, that means youngster Darragh Lenihan, whose natural position is in midfield, will come in for his debut alongside left-back Tommy Spurr.

“Matt Kilgallon might be fight for this weekend, but if not, then certainly next weekend,” said Rovers boss Gary Bowyer.

“But if he doesn’t make it then that would be five (centre-backs) missing now including young Doneil (Henry) who we had to send back to West Ham.

“But if you look at the performances that Tommy Spurr has put in since he’s gone in there (centre-back), they’ve been terrific, and young Darragh came on and did ever so well on Tuesday.”

Dunn and King have not played for Rovers since January 24 and February 24 respectively after sustaining leg injuries.

But Bowyer said: “We’ve got Josh King and David Dunn back on Saturday, which is great news for us and for both of them.

“They’ve got to come through training tomorrow and then hopefully they’ll go into the squad.”

Baptiste and Chris Taylor may return for the final game of the campaign at home to Ipswich Town on Saturday week.

But Hanley, along with Duffy and Jason Lowe, will not play again for the first-team this season.
