BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche insists none of his players are in need of a rest despite eight of his squad appearing in at least 24 of the Clarets’ 27 league games this season.

Tom Heaton, Kieran Trippier and Jason Shackell remain ever-presents for a Burnley side that have won plaudits for the distance they have covered this season.

But Dyche thinks they can keep going until the end of the season, and says the stats from their successful Championship campaign back that up.

“We are Burnley and don’t have the banks and banks of analysts of other clubs or every piece of equipment, but we do have things like Prozone, GPS testing and we have a requirement to make sure we know how players are performing,” he said.

“The key thing is knowing what they are capable of doing. I’ve got a year of evidence from most of the group from last season and now evidence from this season.

“We are delivering really strong physical data to this day. There is method how it works.

“You cannot guarantee it will be as strong in the last game, but last season our stats were showing we were delivering at the end of the season at a similar level to the beginning, and in some games it was higher.

“That was with 46 league and cup games. So far we are about seven games fewer than last season, though they are bigger games and the players had to adjust quickly to the mental state.”

Tonight the Clarets will face Liverpool flier Raheem Sterling, who did benefit from a rest in January when he jetted off to Jamaica.

Asked if he would consider granting a player a rest if they knocked on his office door, Dyche said: “That was up to Raheem Sterling. If it was my player, I’d listen and then we’d agree he is going to play on.”
