FULL-TIME: Burnley 3, Verona 1

First published in Sport

LUKAS Jutkiewicz scored his sixth pre-season goal in as many games to send Burnley into the Premier League on a winning note.

The Clarets came back from behind to beat Verona 3-1 at Turf Moor.

Lazaros Christodoulopoulos put the Italians in front a minute into the second half after a goalless first 45 minutes.

But Matt Taylor cancelled it out just a minute later with an instinctive finish from Danny Ings' ball.

Luca Toni brought a save from Heaton as Verona looked to get back on the front foot quickly.

But Burnley began to get more of a foothold on the game and turned their pressure into a second goal.

Summer signing Jutkiewicz has been a hit since his arrival from Middlesbrough last month, and goes into the Premier League campaign as the Clarets' pre-season top scorer.

His sixth came courtesy of a header from Ben Mee's cross.

It was to be Jutkiewicz's last taste of action in this game as he was replaced by Marvin Sordell, but it was not an end to the goals.

Ings was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet - denied by two expert saves from Rafael De Andrade - but the goalkeeper was helpless to stop second half substitute Ross Wallace completing the win direct from a free kick.

Couldn't make the game, on nights last night but from all accounts the Joker is on fire. Unfortunately Sordell looks as good as a bag of cement, but I did predict this, Sordell I mean, We will have to see if the joker can do it against better opposition. Ings also looks like a one season wonder like Nugent, which I also predicted but this win will big us up ready for the mighty come down against Chelsea.
Good to see Coyle as a pundit on the BBC.

Your judgement of Burnley's strikers seems to be based on whether they score or not (no mention of all round contrabution to the team).
Last week THE JUKE was another journey man in your blue and white blinkers.
So give us your judgement on 'no-goals again' roads, yer t0sser.

No it's judgement is based on having drunk 5 litres of cheap cider by 2:00 pm every day, from never attending a match, it's then further distorted by bipolar disorder and his suffering from depression. So you can't era have a discussion with an alcoholic, morose, mentally ill male from Blackburn as it requires at least a sense that both parties know the basic rules of human communication. This swivel head falls at the first hurdle ever time, you might think it's communicating but you are. The troll is rolled in a ball trying to bite off his own testicles screaming at the laptop at the other side of the room. We should be kind and compassionate, but ignore him. He hates that.

Fair play, can't argue with that result. Looks like all the pieces are falling into place for you lot ahead of the big game next week, and as I've said a few times Jutkiewicz looks like a real asset. I only wish Bowyer could find these gems like Dyche has a knack of doing time and time again.

Ignore my earlier comment, I slipped back in to AP4B mode, my apologies. I am working on my mood swings so please just give me a bit of time for this new medication to kick in. I apologise in advance for any further outbursts I may make later this evening or in the future, please just ignore me when I post as AP4B, it's just angry jealous nonsense from a side of my personality I am desperately trying to lock away.

Once again great result, and a Claret pal of mine tells me Ross Wallace's 25 yd free kick was a beauty, he's not a bad sub to have on the bench.

So, assuming that Ings is not yet firing on all cylinders and on the back of one game you didn't see you assert proof-positive that Ings is a "one season wonder". Jamie Redknapp, former international footballer with 30 odd caps, who played alongside some of the worlds best players and is paid by football TV for insight and punditry, who says today that "Ings is a wonderful raw talent and will very soon lead the England attack is, along with the legion of such others - wrong?

And you, who used to state that talent like this is going to sod off and leave us - if he's any sense etc etc now say the mirror opposite.

Come on detailed response needed - which do we believe what you used to say or what you say now. Please remember your avid readership remember you embarking on life with this ID as an an anti-claret who morphed into a (supposed) Claret one fine day.

People tell me you are a complete and utter twa.t. Put up some substance to show that you are not.

Outplayed a top serie A Team. Is there no end to the depth of Dyche's immense talent? He's even got Wallace outdoing Beckham. Surely this incredible progression must 'flatline' at some point. But I can't see it. Europa League? I think so.

Hi Bobber Jobber, I base my one season wonder tag for ings on him only getting 10 goals this season and him having dodgey knees, which is why we got him cheap. Jukey might get a dozen and Vokes, who is our best player and makes Ings look good, needs to get back as soon as possible, I think when fit Vokes will interest a lot of the big clubs. Ings career will follow nugents. Just as we were crowing about how good he was, he will just fizz out to mediocrity, read article Redknapp on Nugent for Harry redknapps take on Nugent and substitute Ings name for every instance of Nugent. History repeating itself

You know what, that might even be worth a cheeky tenner.

I'd give my right spud to have Dyche at Ewood Park, he seems to be able to take an average player and turn him into something special, although I'm pretty sure he'd have his work cut out with some of our dollopers.

But your lot of tso brain cells that wont rub together fans have been spouting that you will be in the top two in your ...eell inferior league after six matches. Last night, thanks to admittedly a good piece of skill by one player you 'crabbed' a home draw against a now poor and since last season depleted and demoralised Cardiff team. You stand half way in your second tier division and frankly I don' t see going up from there. Mr mogodon has obviously told Rhodes not to get involved in the game and incurs an injury which would lowdr his @£3 million trasfer value. Hanley plays like he has had a lobotomy and rest of the team will soon become demoralised. I know you try to lift the gloom at the Chicken run but sorry you are fighting a losing battle.

I know you try to lift the gloom at the Chicken run but sorry you are fighting a losing battle. tall in the saddle

Outplayed a top serie A Team. Is there no end to the depth of Dyche's immense talent? He's even got Wallace outdoing Beckham. Surely this incredible progression must 'flatline' at some point. But I can't see it. Europa League? I think so.
Think you'll find they are a mid table Seiie a team having just came up the year before, so distinctly average.

Careful now. Mustn't praise the Clarets. Important to demean everything they do wherever possible.

Ings looks like he did last 2-3 games a but frustrated but his touch and pace wil see him skip through some PL defences and score a few this season. Elsewhere Dyche looks to have found a Vokes replacement who looks deadlier if anything. 5 goals against good European opposition is a good platform to build from. But the main thing for me is the confidence shown by both games where we go straight up after conceding and score. Warming up, coming off, coming on - there's a cold determined positive feel coming from the guys. Great times bring on the PL, these boys look like they're well up for it. Win lose or draw you feel as though they'd run through a brick wall for Dyche.

Great day yesterday at the Turf, proper prices for a family and lots of family entertainment. Perhaps that's the future and the way we can keep supporters away from the clutches of the obvious.

Not a bad attendance for a pre-season friendly though is it? Perhaps you'll be good enough to provide us with your view on their attendance after they've played a league game?

I was rather disappointed by our own attendance against Cardiff, its going to be painful knowing they are filling their ground week in week out while we are only at at 50% capacity.

Maybe we should paint fans onto seats to make us look less pathetic on the Football League Show?

These are the gift that keeps giving. Compare the next 5 games. It's certain that for 3 of our 5 the away support will be a maximum 4000, for the other 2 it will be over 3000 (Hull) and over 2500 (West Ham). The might Rovers can expect 500 from Scunthorpe, a few more than that from Bournmouth, less than a 1000 from Watford, with Wigan not many more and only Derby arriving in number. So on away fans alone the Turf will be heaving. Add the home support and it's likely that 100,000 fans will watch the next 5 games at Turf Moor. Peanuts compared to the Emirates next 5, or Old Trafford. But let's get over to deadwood where that figure will be at least 30,000 less. Over the season, despite playing many more home games, Rovers will be millions of pounds shy on gate receipts than us. Factor in TV and other revenues and you see that a Blackburn fan commenting on attendance is like a jobless man shouting at drivers as they leave an Audi showroom in their new wheels. Noses stuck against the windows, nothi positive to say, nothing nice to add. Bitter, boring and bust. Yep that must hurt.

It's a very good point and it was nice to see all the young families there.

You wrote 'I base my one season wonder tag on him only 10 goals this season'.

So, you're giving a bloke who's just had a 26 goal season the tag a one-season wonder on an event that's not happened? How big a bloody numpty are actually planning to be?
