ROUNDERS has been played in England since the tudor times - a bat and ball game played between two teams.

Rounders is a striking and fielding team game that involves hitting a small, hard, leather-cased ball with a rounded end wooden, plastic or metal bat.

The players score by running around the four bases on the field. There is a reason why when you ask people about Rounders it brings a smile – revisiting memories of a sport they played at school.

It is a fun, team sport that, boys, girls, men & women can play whatever their ability.

Rounders also helps develop core skills in running, batting, throwing, catching and fielding. It’s not surprising to know that over the last 18 months the interest in playing this sport again has really taken off and local areas such as Darwen, Blackburn and Burnley have seen a major interest in the sport and not just from ladies but also men and the interest is from all ages.

Between them, Blackburn Community Sports & Get In2 Rounders Burnley offer sessions for all ages, male and female with mixed abilities.

Everyone is welcome as the interest in this sport continues to increase.

Across the borough various pay and play sessions are running throughout the summer as traditionally the sport is played from May to September, indoor winter sessions and leagues run from late September through winter till summer so the sport can be enjoyed all year round.

It has also become a popular way to raise money for local charities which also helps gain interest in the game.
