Marvin Sordell keen on Burnley move
Updated 1:27pm Friday 27th June 2014 in Sport
STRIKER Marvin Sordell admits he would love the chance to link up again with Sean Dyche should his move to Burnley go through.
The Bolton Wanderers man is close to completing a move to Turf Moor for an initial £600,000 fee with add-ons.
Sordell, who spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, worked with the Clarets chief at Watford and was full of praise for Dyche.
“I worked with him a lot at Watford and he’s a very good coach, a very good mentor for players and I’m not surprised Burnley did so well last season,” said Sordell.
But the 26-year-old, who has been training alone at England’s St George’s Park base during the past few weeks, said nothing was yet certain regarding his move to Burnley.
“All I can say is that in football nothing is guaranteed,” he added.
“There are reports and rumours but nothing is ever 100 per cent so I cannot say too much.
“If it comes along it would be a fantastic opportunity and I have been working at St George’s Park already in pre-season to give me the best chance to hit the ground running.”
Sordell joined Bolton for £3.2million from Watford in January 2012 but has struggled for form since moving to the Reebok Stadium.
He scored eight goals while on loan at Charlton last season.
Meanwhile, West Brom have rejected a transfer request from defender Craig Dawson, who has been linked with a move to Burnley.
The fact that Dawson has now expressed his desire to leave the Hawthorns could tempt Burnley into making a firm bid for the former Rochdale man.
