Sordell set to sign for Clarets
BURNLEY are set to unveil Bolton Wanderers striker Marvin Sordell as their first pre-Premier League signing, while Derby County midfielder Craig Bryson may not be far behind.
Scotland international Bryson was understood to be in talks with the Clarets yesterday, while the club finalised the deal for Sordell.
The former England Under 21 international, and Team GB Olympian, was set to complete his move last night for around £600,000 plus add-ons – significantly less than the £3.2million Bolton paid to sign him from Watford on January transfer deadline day 2012.
But with Bolton needing to free up funds in order to push through with their bid to sign Lukas Jutkiewicz from Middlesbrough negotiations advanced speedily, allowing the Clarets to move in on their next target.
Manager Dyche has been weighing up a move for Bryson over the summer, and a £750,000 trigger clause is understood to have been activated. However, that only permits clubs to hold talks with Derby’s player of the year. The Rams are looking for more in terms of a fee, possibly in the region of £2m, for a player who scored 16 goals in 49 games last season, including two hat-tricks.

Premier League-bound Burnley were linked with a double swoop on play-off finalists Derby, with Richard Keogh rumoured to be part of a £2.5m joint bid earlier this month.
It is possible the Clarets could complete the double this summer. But the Lancashire Telegraph understands that Bryson, 27, was the one in the north west yesterday to discuss a potential move to Turf Moor.
The Scotland international scored 16 goals in 49 appearances in the 2013/14 campaign, including two hat-tricks.
Sordell, 23, is looking for a fresh start after enduring a difficult time since his transfer from Watford, where he was managed by Dyche. He has managed just 16 starts for Wanderers in 18 months, in all competitions.
He spent the whole of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, but suffered spells on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
