THERE was a familiar face in the Lancashire Rangers team in the latest round of matches in the recently formed LFA Veterans League.

For former Burnley and Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle made a guest appearance for Rangers in the match against Euxton Villa on the 3G pitch as the LFA’s headquarters in Leyland.

Unfortunately, Coyle could not turn the clock back against Euxton – the early league leaders who have won two of their three games – who ran out 8-0 winners.

“Owen kindly agreed to come down and support our project and play for the team we have put together from a group of individuals,” said Shaun Burke. the LFA’s football development officer who has coordinated the league.

“He was very impressed with the set up and the opportunity we are providing for this age group in the area. “We hope to get him down again at some point.
