IT was a frustrating weekend for Burnley and Pendle RL whose find start to the season was brought to a shuddering halt through no fault of their own.

The in-form East Lancashire side were due to play their first home came of the campaign but instead had a free weeekend after Bamber Bridge cried off at the last minute.

Burnley and Pendle are now next in action against Garswood Stags on Saturday.

The team, who are managed by Bob Lennard and coached by Brian Foley have had a flying start to the season, winning their opening two games on their travels. They ran in 14 tries in their opening game of the season when they went to newcomers Manchester Canalsiders and came away with a mighty 84-0 victory.

While their second outing was no high scoring affair, the victory was even more impressive as they travelled to league leaders Bury Broncos A and picked up a hard-earned 24-14 win.

Sam Hamer, Sam Mounsey, Bill Waddington, Matt Crowley and the impressive Sam Walker all scored tries.
