NELSON bowlers Sam Johnson, Spencer Phelan, Jamie Randall and Keiron Cunningham took two wickets each to ensure victory by 68 runs for the U13s A squad against Accrington.

Nelson had piled on 251-4, with Keiron Cunningham (20) and Ben Dinning (15) both contributing to a fine total.

In reply, Accrington were bowled out for 183.

The U9s side went close to posting a win too, after firing 245-2.

However Haslingden made it home by two runs with Oliver Dinning, Anna Pettinger, Joe Birks, Zac Smith, and Zakarya Naeem taking wickets for Nelson.

Nelson’s U13s were well beaten, though, losing by eight wickets to Burnley. Nelson’s 89-4 was never going to be enough against a powerful Burnley batting line-up, although Keiron Cunningham (33) and Sam Johnson (31) were both unbeaten in Nelson’s innings.

Burnley eased to victory on 90-2, although Spencer Phelan took the catch of the day to send back one of their openers.

The U11s lost by 70 runs to Bacup (242-4), Nelson (172-8).
