SHAKOOR Ali destroyed Mirpur CC with a stunning four wicket haul as their opponents were skittled out for 77.

Ali, the leading wicket taker in the Accrington and District League, once again proved to be the match winner for AFM Multan with a splendid spell of attack bowling.

Multan did not have it all their own way, though, stumbling to 80-5 from 23 overs, however a strong middle order rearguard action saw 54 runs coming from the last seven overs.

Mo Shami (24), Mohammed Shabeer (18) and captain Zed Hussain, who carried his bat with a quick fire 20, boosted their innings to a respectable 134-7.

But it was Ali, who has claimed ten wickets in three starts this season, who struck early on as Mirpur’s reply collapsed under his storming six over spell with Multan claiming a 57 run win.

Pakistan CC, meanwhile, claimed top spot folllowing a comfortable 39 runs victory over Azzak.

Pakistan’s captain Khurram led from the front with 47, while Abid chipped in with a valuable 43 as they put 159-8 on the scoreboard from 30 overs.

The pick of the Assad bowlers saw Mohammed Altaf with 3-10.

Assad were certainly in the hunt early on, their openers putting on 35 in five overs and looked to be in with a real shout when they reached the halfway on 79-4.

Former Enfield men Safder Mohammed and Tubassim dug deep, but with them scoring just 30 from the next 10 overs they eventually fell to run rate pressure, and Azzak collapsed to 120 all out.

Meanwhile, the league season is on hold now until next month as Twenty20 Cup action will dominate the fixture list in June. Next games: AFM Multan v Attock CC, Mirpur v Pakistan CC.
