Third Brittle joins up with Blackburn Hawks

BLACKBURN Hawks have announced the addition of a third Brittle brother to their ranks.
Hawks confirmed last week that Daniel Brittle would remain at the club next season as goal tender and assistant head coach to Jared Owen.
The 27-year-old was joined at Hawks a year ago by older brother Adam, 28, who won the NIHL player of the year award.
Adam finished the campaign as Hawks’ top points and goal scorer and will play for Hawks again during the 2014/15 season.
Also due to play for Hawks during the campaign is another brother, Luke, who celebrates his 21st birthday today.
Luke signs from Chelmsford Chieftains in the National Ice Hockey League’s southern division, where he collected 36 points in 25 games last season.
He has also represented Great Britain at under 18s and under 20s level as well as starring for Telford Tigers in the English Premier League.
On the news that both Adam and Luke Brittle would be playing for the club in 2014/15, coach Owen said: “I’m really excited to have Adam back with the Hawks for the new season.
“I think anyone who saw him play last season knows the impact he had on our team and his ability to excel at this level – and higher – is easy to see.
“I’ve been talking with him since the season ended and he really enjoyed his time in Blackburn and was keen to come back.
“This is a massive boost for us – he’s as dangerous on the penalty kill as he is in a five-on-five situations as his speed and skill put defenders on the back foot.
“He was a real leader for the team last season and helped drive the team.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him play together with Luke for the first time this year.
“I think that the partnership has the potential to be really beneficial for us in the new season.”
