LONGRIDGE aim to make up for a defeat last time out when they face Thornton Cleveleys this afternoon in the top flight of the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield. The locals were beaten by title favourites Vernon Carus in their last game and are determined to force their way back into the pack chasing leaders Garstang. Withnell Fold host Fulwood and Broughton, while in Division One Houghton are at home with Eccleston the visitors to Smithy Brow in the game of the day. Hoghton have won two and lost one with one abandonment, while Eccleston have surged to the top of the table. But they are only seven points ahead of the locals. White Coppice entertain Mawdesley.
