Blackburn Rovers youngster Jack O’Connell has been named the League Two defender of the season by Sky Sports’ FL72 show.

The 20-year-old, who has spent the campaign on loan at Rochdale, was handpicked for the honour by pundit Peter Beagrie.

O’Connell has helped Dale, managed by former Rovers defender Keith Hill, to promotion.

And Hill’s side could win the title tomorrow with victory at Newport County.

Fantastic season for some of our players out on loan. O'Connell getting League Two Defender of the Season, (and possibly a league winner's medal too), Morris getting League Two Player of the Month and the play-offs to look forward to, and Judge playing an integral part of Brentford's promotion to the Championship.

Also, Goodwillie and Best scoring a few goals at Blackpool and Wednesday, respectively, so that could see them on the way out soon hopefully.
