Chorley started the day needing to beat Tranmere Rovers and then win their last match to have any chance of catching hot title favourites Huddersfield.
Chorley elected to play into a very strong wind which made it difficult for both sides to play any quality football but a cross from Vicky Coope was superbly headed into the corner of the net by Kathy Bonner to give Chorley a hard-earned half time lead.
With the wind now behind them Chorley began to take control of the game and it was no surprise when Olivia Millington`s left foot shot found the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
She then turned provider as her cross was met by Rachel Wood who gave the Tranmere keeper no chance. Shortly afterwards Sam Cadwallader hit a fourth to give Chorley, what turned out to be, a comfortable 4-0 win.
