BURNLEY missed out on a place in the inaugural Under 21 Premier League Cup final, but gave a good account of themselves against their Premier League counterparts.
The Clarets twice came back from behind to have a Manchester City side on edge, until Sinan Bytyqi popped up with his second on the night in the 75th minute to clinch it for Patrick Vieira's side.
Bytyqi put City ahead in the ninth minute but Cameron Dummigan levelled for Burnley.
It was 2-1 five minutes before half time as Jordy Mayifuila netted again for City, but Jason Gilchrist made it 2-2 in the 65th minute before Bytyqi struck the winner.
