GLOBE trotting David Woolstencroft has been appointed as the new Head Coach at Burnley Tennis Club.

Woolstencroft, from Brierfield, has enjoyed a wealth of experience, coaching in Britain for several years as well as spells in Greece, Turkey and New Zealand, where he worked as a Performance Coach.

He has only recently returned to his native Lancashire and is passionate about developing tennis in Burnley and Pendle as well as promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.

On his return to the UK, he worked as a Lead Performance Coach at a number of venues in the south, including several David Lloyd centres.

He has extensive experience in delivering coaching for a wide range of players and establishing coaching programmes.

Woolstencroft, who will be based at Burnley Tennis Club, said: “Tennisaces Academy is passionate about British tennis inspiring young children from the age of three to learn the game.”

Burnley Tennis Club and Tennisaces Academy have been chosen to provide the Schools Sports Partnership programme delivering Mini Tennis into primary schools across Burnley and Pendle to promote to children the benefits of playing tennis.

In addition, Tennisaces Academy is also coaching a number of organisations in the North West including Burnley College.

Tennisaces Academy will be holding a Schools Mini Tennis Day as part of the open day at Burnley Tennis Club on Sunday (April 6).

The Open Day runs from 9am until 2pm, including one hour of free coaching for kids as well as activities for adults – including the chance to win a free individual coaching session in a raffle to be held on the day.

Free coaching times: 9-10 am aged 4-8 years, 10-11 am aged 9-10 years, 11am until noon, Schools Mini Competition Team coaching.
