I THINK there’s quite a lot of fans following us up to Scotland on Saturday for our big NLN Cup decider against Solway Sharks and that’s great to hear as they can really help get us the win that would seal our place in the final.

We can’t thank the fans enough. They spend a lot of money following the team up and down the country and, in particular, they really help on the road because when you hear them in full voice it can really push you on.

I’m in my eighth or ninth season with the club now and the great thing is the support is getting even better.

Winning the league play-offs last season certainly helped our profile and got the club’s name out there a bit more and we’ve seen new people come in.

And that’s brilliant as basically we’re just a bunch of lads who love playing hockey and they want to come and watch us play.

So hopefully we can get a win at Solway for them and get through to the final, which we all want to do.

I don’t think we took the cup as seriously last season as we could have done.

But we’ve certainly taken it seriously this time around. Our attitude has been to set out to win every game and try and do as well as we can in it.

That’s exactly what we’ve done and, with the league play-off title still to defend, we’ve got a chance of winning two trophies.

And I’m quite confident if we all turn up and play the way we know we can we’ll have a great chance.

But for now we’re just concentrating on Saturday’s game before turning our attention to Sunday’s challenge match at home to the Royal Navy Kings ice hockey team.

It might be the last chance our fans have to see us at home this season and there’s already been a colleague of mine at work, who I don’t really know, telling me his lad really wants to come down and watch us and this game gives him the chance to do it.

It should be good fun. They’ll no doubt be fit – I don’t think I’ll be challenging any of them to a fight off the ice!

It will also give us the chance to keep the legs going after we had a weekend off.

It was good to have a break as they don’t come around too often during the season.

But now we can’t wait to get back on the ice and try and beat Solway on Saturday.
